Location: Up Little Cottonwood Canyon, past Alta Ski Resort

Best Time of Day: About 2-2.5 hours before sunset

Info: This is a beautiful location; however, it is only accessible in the Summer and Early Fall.  You will be driving on some dirt roads as well.

15 -- Wheeler Historic Farm

Location: 6351 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT

Look/Style: Outdoor, Nature, a lot of fun paths with trees; there are also historic farm buildings that add some great backdrops.

Best Time of Year: Year Round Access

Best Time of Day: 1.5 hours before sunset

Cost: $10

16 -- Garden Park Ward

Location: 1150 East Yale Avenue, Salt Lake City, UT — Sugarhouse area

Look/Style: A mix of interesting architecture and mature landscaping, with some water features.

Best Time of Year: Late Spring through Early Fall

Best Time of Day: 1.5 hours before sunset (but you’re supposed to leave by 7:00 pm, so 5:30 start time works well during the summer)

Info: Very limited availability; it is only available Monday to Wednesday and Saturday, as long as there is nothing else scheduled.  To check availability go to http://gardenparkward.com/Calendar

17 -- This is the Place Heritage Park

Location: 2601 Sunnyside Avene, Salt Lake City, UT — located across the street from Hogle Zoo

Look/Style: Historic Buildings with dirt roads and trees, some views of Salt Lake City or mountains.

Best Time of Year: Year Round Access

Best Time of Day: 1.5 hours before sunset

Info: You do have to schedule your shoot with Heritage Park.  The phone number is 801-924-7507.

Location Fee: If you are having your wedding/reception at Heritage Park there is no cost to do a shoot there on a different day.  If you don’t have an event scheduled with them the cost is $50 for a photo day pass.

18 -- Salt Lake City and County Building

Location: 451 State Street, Salt Lake City, UT — located in downtown SLC

Look/Style: Park with great trees, fountains, and historic building

Best Time of Year: Year Round Access

Best Time of Day: 1.5 hours before sunset

Info: It is a good mix of building and outdoor feel.  The area is small but offers a lot of great little spots to shoot.

20 -- Red Butte Garden at University of Utah

Location: 300 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City, UT

Look/Style: Nature, Outdoors, with gardens, trees, and different structures

Best Time of Year: Spring through Fall

Best Time of Day: 1.5 hours before sunset (but you need to pay attention to the Garden's hours)

Info: The gardens here offer quite a few different looks and feel.  Some parts have more flowers and gardens while others feel like you are more in nature with long grass and trees and a cool path with arching trees (though the trees are kind of low).

You must schedule the photography session at Red Butte Garden.  The number for the event coordinator is 801-585-9563.

Location Fee: $100 for photo day pass plus regular admission for each person (except the photographer).

21 -- Memory Grove Park

Location: 300 North Canyon Rd, Salt Lake City, UT — the park is located just a little northeast of Salt Lake Temple

Look/Style: This location has both a park feel as well as a nature feel.  It is almost two different locations.

22 -- Capitol Building

Location: 350 North State Street, Salt Lake City, UT

Look/Style: Inside/Outside of Building

Best Time of Year: Year Round Access

Best Time of Day: Middle of the day

Info: It is important to check the calendar on their website (utahstatecapitol.utah.gov/calendar) to make sure the Rotunda area is available. You can also call the Capitol Preservation Board office (801-410-0011) if you have any questions. You do NOT need to schedule a shoot there.

23 -- Ensign Peak

Location: 1002 North Ensign Vista Drive, Salt Lake City, UT — located north of the Capitol Building in a residential area.

Look/Style: Nature, Outdoors, fields with wildflowers, view of Salt Lake City

Best Time of Year: Early Spring through Fall

Best Time of Day: 1.5-2 hours before sunset

Info: Ensign Peak requires a bit of a hike.  It isn’t long, but steep; and, after rain (or snow melt) it can be muddy along the trail.

25 -- Salt Lake City International Peace Gardens

Location: 1000 South 900 West, Salt Lake City, UT — located inside Jordan Park in Salt Lake City

Look/Style: Gardens, trees, with different structures for backdrops

Best Time of Year: Late Spring through Fall

Best Time of Day: 1.5 hours before sunset

Info: The International Peace Gardens can be a great place to shoot.  The park as a whole can feel a bit run down, but as far as a backdrop for photos there are a couple great spots.
